Scotts Valley Art Center Spring Art Exhibit
Scotts Valley Art Center will host it's popular Spring Art Exhibit again this year. Open to all students of Scotts Valley Art Center, this show will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2010, from 11am to 3pm. This show will feature artwork from students ranging in age from 5 to adult. In addition, there will be a variety of other works from young adult and adult students on display. Deadline for entries is 5pm, Friday February 25, 2011. Kids Summer Art Camps Monday, July 6 - Friday, July 10 Landscape Painting Local artist Shirley Rhoades will lead this week-long plein air/outdoor painting workshop for kids. Working outdoors in response to nature, students will comprehensively explore the process of landscape painting while discovering the visual possibilities when "en plein air." Rhoades is a plein air painter with years of experience teaching drawing and painting to children and adults. Participating students will have their artworks installed during MAH's Plein Air Affaire on Saturday, July 11th and Sunday, July 12th. All materials included. Come Visit Shirley's Studio during Santa Cruz 2012 Open Studio Tour
Saturday & Sunday, October 13-14 & 20-21, 2012, 11 AM - 5 PM Renown local artist Shirley Rhoades will be hosting an open studio two weekends this year! She will be opening her studio and showing her artwork October 13-14 and Oct 20-21, 2012, as a participating gallery in the Santa Cruz County 26th Annual Open Studios Art Tour. She will be featuring recent work in watercolor and oil, plus will be showing an assortment of her unique crafted gourds. The Cultural Council of Santa Cruz County's Open Studios Art Tour takes place the first three weekends in October. From the redwoods to the sea, thousands of art enthusiasts visit with artists in their studios to see the creative process at work. The Open Studios Art Tour is a self-guided tour with 300 studios open throughout Santa Cruz County. Art Tour information is available on their website (www.ccscc.org). The museum-quality, 15-month Artist Guide/Calendar, available for $20 at more than 50 locations in Santa Cruz County, includes a map of Open Studios Locations and contact information for each artist. Calendar sales benefit local arts and arts learning programs. |
